Bolivian Ram

Mikrogeophagus altispinosus
Freshwater 🎓 Intermediate

The Bolivian ram is the hardier, cooler-water cousin of the German blue ram. Less vividly colored but no less beautiful, a yellow-orange body with a black spot, red-edged fins, and a blue iridescent shimmer. They are considerably more forgiving of temperature and water chemistry than German blue rams, making them accessible to intermediate hobbyists. ⚠️ Despite their more peaceful reputation among cichlids, they will defend a breeding territory vigorously. They are substrate spawners and make devoted parents.
