The lawnmower blenny lives up to its name, it grazes continuously on microalgae (especially diatoms and hair algae) coating rocks, glass, and sand, scraping it off with a comb-like mouth. Their mottled brown-grey camouflage makes them look like a piece of reef rock until they move. ⚠️ In tanks with insufficient algae growth, they will begin to starve; supplement with nori sheets on a clip and algae wafers. Some individuals will nip at corals when hungry. They are territorial toward other blennies.
