Sparkling Gourami

Trichopsis pumila
Freshwater 🎓 Intermediate

The sparkling gourami is a tiny jewel, less than 4cm long, covered in iridescent blue-green sparkles that shimmer under light. What makes them truly unique is their ability to produce a clicking, croaking sound using a specialised mechanism in their pectoral fins, groups click at each other constantly. They are nano labyrinth fish that prefer still or slow-moving water with surface plants. ⚠️ Males may spar, but rarely cause serious injury. They are quite shy and are best kept in species tanks or with similarly small, peaceful fish.
